Took my drone (before I broke it) to the top of some street in San Francisco and ended up at a dope park with amazing views.
Holidays are coming up and I know a lot of people are looking to either get a camera or start their photography business. Here’s a few tips I would suggest before purchasing!
1) look into getting a used camera from offerup, facebook marketplace or ebay.
I say this because the mistake most people make is they buy the most expensive camera on the market because they are looking for a “good camera” without having any knowledge on how to use it. If you dont plan on taking photography SUPER SERIOUS save yourself hundreds of dollars by just purchasing used. Most of the camera you’ll find used will be sold by those who made the mistake i mentioned above. They’ll have it for a few months then put it right back in the box never to see the light of day again lol.
2) The best way to learn your camera is by simply playing with it and shooting. Really simple but most new photographers look over that. You can spend hours on youtube or in my RaineyU photography school but nothing will beat practice and experience!
3) Save as much money as you can. Dont go buying the most expensive gear and lens if you’re not getting booked! This is also a common mistake most new photographers make. They spend more money on getting equipment rather than mastering what they have. It does not matter what camera you have…if you don’t understand lighting you’re just spending money in hopes of producing high quality photos. I’ve shot billboards and magazine covers with the basic of gear. LEARN LIGHTING
4) Reach out to family and friends for practice and to advertise your work.
You may not want to hear it but the truth is you’re going to have to shoot something for free to get your name and work out there to let people know you’re a photographer. Family and friends is the best way to start
-Family shoots will show potential clients that you can photograph just about anything (everyone has a family, everyone has a birthday, everyone is going to need a photographer at some point)
-Friend shoots will advertise to potential models and and attract birthday shoots. Also allows you to be a bit more creative and gives you more room for practice. Your friends will also tag and share with other friends building your clientele.
5) Lastly I would suggest joining my photography school RaineyUniversity! Will save you tons of time. I teach camera basics, studio lighting, AND how to edit like a professional in no time. Can also reach me at anytime via the groupchat where I answer your photography questions and critique your work! Join today
On my way to pick up blankets now. Philly showed me that this weather ain’t nun to play with. Saturday I’m passing out pizza and blankets to the homeless in the Centennial Olympic park area. No pressure no sign ups. Pull up, drop off, donate, stay home, idc. Just know I’ll be out there until I run out. See you Saturday #TheCoverUp (at Centennial Olympic Park)

Dear young people (and some of you older shooters) here’s a true story…
.
Interns are annoying and get in the way. Plus I wouldn’t feel comfortable working you to death for FREE. That’s worse than minimum wage lmao. I’d rather you pay me $49 to enroll in @raineyuniversity and I give you ALL the game and we go do a gig together….or you can keep sending emails and getting turned down. Don’t matter to me 🤷🏾♂️ #RaineyU (at Rittenhouse Square)
